The back roads of America’s West always have a story to tell. The story is more interesting for me as the road gets narrower and the gravel gets rougher. The backdrop of these remote locales awakens all my emotions as I seek to piece together a storyline from the smattering of clues within my camera’s viewfinder. I feel sadness from the abandoned remnants of some’s dream, appreciation for the land’s beauty, and awe in those hardy souls who came to this part of the country determined to succeed. Who was that individual who first imagined the possibility of a church, a business, or a ranch? Who is the individual who continues to live and work this demanding way of life in this beautiful region?

My images give a fleeting glimpse into the past, whose full story may never be known, and current endeavors whose complete story is yet to be written.
